    XP Brightness

    I've given up on this.

I want to adjust the brightness on my CR48 w/ Windows XP. I had Windows 7 and it was able to adjust it, but the performance was REALLY slow so I had to switch to XP and I've lost that feature.

I've looked all over the net and can't find much on it. Apparently the GMA 3150's brightness can be adjusted w/ a FN key, but obviously this laptop doesn't have one. I thought about using scancodes to emulate the key but it varies on each mobo so there's no way to figure out what it is. Any ideas?

It's also been suggested before just to use the Intel applet in Control Panel to do just that, but it's a simulated brightness change; it doesn't actually lower the backlight brightness.

You can configure the Cr-48 keyboard, including the brightness controls, with AutoHotkey. I haven't tried it in Windows XP, but it should work fine.

There's a guide to installing AutoHotkey along with links to a custom script for the Cr-48 keyboard here:

    Hope this works for you.

Yea I found that last night. No luck.

It calls some DLL function that doesn't exist in Windows XP. Any other ideas?
