Thread: Can't get account created with Verizon for the free 100MB

    I too had trouble getting it activated and called the Verizon 800 number. I reached a guy who said he had had several CR-48's with problems signing up for the 3g service that day. After a few minutes on the phone with him going through some commands in the crosh prompt, it was working beautifully.

    Yeah the application is broken and Verizon is aware of the issue. You have to call them and they will walk you through the process. Let them know you are a Chrome OS test pilot.

    All the folks at Verizon that used to deal the CR-48 problems must be gone now. My Verizon 3G data plan died after about 7 months and I have beaten my head against the wall with Verizon support with nothing to show for it. They keep asking for my security code which I never created during the initial setup so I can obviously never get past this part of the phone call with the tech. They will not even LOOK at the account without the security code. I tried explaining what a Chromebook was and that this a complimentary service for 2 years. Still nothing. The Verizon people have NO IDEA what a CR-48 Chromebook is or anything about the Google promise to its testers.
