AS the title states... Wouldn't it be awesome to switch to ubuntu by booting it through an sd card each time you would be offline? you could just take it out and boot into Chrome os when your online..... just a thought. Is there a way to do this?

It would be such a slow boot ... Class 10 SD Cards max out at 10 MiB/Sec.
What's the speed of USB Flash drives?
About double on average for a slower end card 20 MiB/Sec. I'm seeing around 33 MiB/Sec on most drives now days.
1/3 slower does not seem that painful.
well is there a way?
Yes there is a way, as I'm doing it right now. You can install a boot-able version (thanks to Hexxeh) of ChromiumOS via Flow. Just follow the instructions, and be sure that you have a 2GB SD card. I'll post back here once I get it booted. Keeping in mind that it's writing to the SD card at 0.6 MiB/Sec, so this could take a while to write 1.8GiB, and it's only 27% done, so I don't think it will be done before I have to go to class.
97% Done, but I have to leave. I'll post back in about 5 hours after school, should my computer allow me to boot directly from my SD reader.
I just wanted to say that I tired it, and I'm not sure what happened first, was it that the flash went wrong or was it that my BIOS will not boot from an SD card? Anyway, the SD card is now only formats to 250 MB, even tho it's a 2GB card and 1.88GB was accessible before attempting this. So I'm pretty sure I've ruined the card, although I have no idea how I managed to do that.
You havn't ruined the SD Card. It partitioned for the SD card with the other o/s. Download SDFormatter and format the SD card back to original specs.
