Ok, I feel a little better being able to move the files around Dropbox. That way after using this extension to save something to the root level, you can move it around afterwards.

To err is human, to really foul up requires a computer!
There are some places where this doesn't work perfectly. For example, somebody attached a Word document I was going to save directly to my Google Docs so I can open it up there (and bypass the download/save requirement), but because the target of the link is "../download/file.php?id=39" it cannot do it because it is a PHP file, not like going directly against a .doc file.
I'm at my windows machine, though, and when I clicked on it I had the option to open in Word or save. Does ChromeOS automatically offer "open in Google Docs" or save?
I absolutely love the feature in Gmail to open attachments in Google Docs without having to save anything anywhere!

If you go to the link I provided above and read it you'll see some of the limitations and why, some things have to do with Google limiting access to their API's, others he's still working on.

What I was bringing up was trying to save a document link, but since it goes to a PHP page it doesn't quite work the same as if the link was to "../document.pdf" or the like.
Now that this has been checked out, what are your thoughts on it?
Should something like this be set as default so when Chrome wants to save something to your local drive, it saves it to one of these locations instead (maybe set it up in preferences, or have a window pop up so you can select one or the other on-the-fly?

I agree that you should have options in prefs to set up where certain files go automatically, having a drop down for on the fly changing is kinda a must too cause of shared files/not shared files, but now it sounds like we're trying to complicate the app when we should be applying KISS...LOL!
