That New Tab page in my opinion looks similar to Jolicloud (or iOS) in a way, having your apps on different pages (and newer pages get created each time the amount of apps overflows) instead of all on one page (like Android 3.0 or GNOME Shell).

Yes, that's what I was thinking. And, you only got 11 votes? I thought you would get more than that.
I never thought of that before since I go to a Google home page first. If I didn't then I believe it would serve as a desktop. Interesting.
Fast forward 8 months, and it now feels more like a hybrid of the iOS and Android home screens than like a desktop... For one, it's paginated. For two, the icons don't light up when you hover over them. For three, the icons pop out (similar to the way they do in Android). For four, similar to the search in iOS, the Most Visited section (aka Most Visited page) is now on the far left.
