It's been a year with the Cr-48!! and I still love it!!

For a handful of us it been a year with the Cr-48 and admittedly I still love it. I can remember feeling like a kid in a candy store the day I opened that mysterious unmarked box to find the famous box with the dismantled hamster driven rocket ship. Best Christmas present ever, thank you Google.
The Cr-48 quickly became my primary computer and I can happily say I love liviing in "the cloud" and OS has come a long ways as well. While the OS has had many ups and downs it was expected with the beta program leaving the user wondering what new features will be in the next update and the 7 second boot time just makes me happy every time I crack open the top. :-)
I've also really enjoyed keeping up the Findings and Fixes threads in 2011 and look forward to 2012, while I would like to see a little more participation I'll still keep cranking em' out.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Would love to hear your 1 year ( close to 1 year counts too) experience with the Cr-48 or better yet the new Samsung & Acer Chromebooks.

One year and I too am still loving it!

Whenever I go somewhere, or need to check something quick it is the first machine I look to! It's long battery life and not having to worry about a plug, plus the quick boot-up puts it well above my regular laptop.

It has taken some adjustment to move my "life" into the cloud. The benefit of doing this, other than for experimental purposes, is that I can manage things through my work computer, home systems and Cr-48 almost equally! Google has done a good job with integrating their services (gmail, calendar, contacts, photo and documents) to make the web productive, like what Microsoft did to the desktop.

    Happy Anniversary Cr-48 receivers!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! I see the potential in Chrome OS and was an avid user for about 6 months after receiving my CR-48 (thanks google!). I had to send the first one back for repair (keyboard stopped working). I was sent another in short order and it too succumbed to a hardware issue (can't remember what, gave it to my wife).

I was really looking forward to the release of other Chrome OS notebooks but was seriously taken-aback by the pricing. I could get a more capable machine for near the same price -- it wasn't worth it for me. So I've been using Ubuntu since then. I seriously hope that manufacturers realize a decent price-point, else I don't see this OS going too far. But that is my 2 cents.

I still enjoy this community and will continue following whatever Google does, I'm just not an active CrOS user (hangs head in shame).

Edit: Has been a year already, wow!

Wow, already one year. I checked my email history and found that I received my CR-48 12/15/2010 so I'm just past a year. In that one year, my CR-48 has had Ubuntu, ArchLinux, Windows 7, Windows 8 Dev, and ChromeOS installed on it. Currently I'm back to ChromeOS on the Dev channel. None of the other OS's could get the 3G card + Netflix working properly. Also, do have 3 other computers in the house for my various work/play computing needs that require a full blown OS.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed with ChromeOS in 2011, only a couple retail Chromebooks and not much new about ChromeOS. Hopefully 2012 will be a better year.

I am still enjoying and using my CR-48 everyday.

It is ideal for those trips to the mall with the spouse and it is an excellent work companion. I am still waiting for Google Docs to be available offline for editing.

Other than that, it is a fantastic addition.

I loved it when I was sitting on the couch with it, and my wife was at the desktop computer and we were both editing the same Christmas Wish List for the family!

I could see the changes she was making as she was making them, and she could see mine (and we passed a few notes that way too ). Plus the chat window made it easy to talk without having to type it in the document.

now that my wife has used the Chromebook and found out how easy it is...I only get occasional visits with the Chromebook....then it's back to the 11 year old IBM server for me LOL. Guess 2012 will bring another Chromebook to the family and I can "retire" the server.

Well, even though it has been almost a year for my Cr-48 (got it in February), it died on me in June. Well, it doesn't matter anymore, as the Christmas present I am typing on happens to be an Acer AC700-1099...
