I USB tether on my Droid (found here) as my main hookup for the Cr48. Works great!
Thats cool but I'm not rooted, have you tried it my way yet?
It ought to work the same, but I'm on Verizon, so I can't do it in the native USB tether for FroYo (Verizon makes it link to a page where you can purchase a tethering plan, but there's not one available for the OG Droid). I used to have the native tether on an older FroYo ROM, and it worked exactly the same as what I have now. You ought not have any issues tethering that way.
It would be nice, though, if Chrome OS could do ad hoc networks so I could WiFi tether, or bluetooth so I could bluetooth tether. I hate that my Droid drains the Cr48 battery when I'm tethered via USB.
Have you tried to usb tether on your droid to see what the CR-48 sees it as.
It sees it as ethernet.
Are you getting data through your Droid with it saying Ethernet
Yep. Everything works.
Ok just realized it only works when I have wifi enabled, dangit all
I haven't tried it with WiFi disabled, but I can tell you that it's running as ethernet just fine when I have no WiFi networks to connect with. If it only works on a USB ethernet (which is what Android tether basically is, as far as it's concerned) with WiFi enabled, report it via the bug tracker. I'll check it out later and see if mine does the same.
