Yes! Google has announced two new netbooks from Samsung and Acer . These will be the first to market and will begin selling in June this year. Best Buy and Amazon will begin selling these devices online on the 15th of June.
The Samsung Notebook:
The Acer Notebook:
Both devices will be available in Wi-fi and Wifi/3g versions.
Will be available for business too
For $28 per user businesses will be able to buy a Chrome notebook on a lease basis. This cost will come with relevant support. If the Notebook breaks down, Google will send a replacement.
Chromebooks For Education
Google will also be launching a new service called ‘Chromebooks for Education. With this new service Schools and Government institutions, starting June 15th will be able to order Chrome Notebooks directly from Google for a subscription of $20 per person. This service will also come with support and a replacement policy if ever the device is damaged during that period.
Chrome Box
Google Also announce the ‘Chrome box’ which will work as a set-top box running Chrome OS. Sundar (Product VP) explained that the company realizes that not all potential Chrome OS users will want Chrome Notebooks for mobile application. Rather, especially for business, this set top both will work as a sort of ‘mini Chrome desktop’.
Every I/O Attendee got a free Chrome Notebook
Every attendee to the I/O conference will*receive*a free Chrome Notebook in the mail on the 15th of June. They will have a pick from either the Samsung device or the Acer device.
