    Implementation of Google +1?

Seeing as though there are plenty of Facebook users connecting to Chrome OS Lounge, what about Buzz users? Especially since Chrome OS Lounge is about all things Google, wouldn't it be nice for Chrome OS Lounge to use a Google social network in addition to Facebook?

    Buzz is overrated.

No, seriously, it is. Google turned Buzz's implementation into a debacle that scared most people away from it.

Facebook on the other hand... well, if you're not on Facebook... it's very hard to get anywhere on the net without Facebook anymore.

    Kenny,

I would have loved to add this feature, this was actually a priority at one point. Unfortunately there is not way that I know of that could allow Google accounts to be integrated with the sign up or log in process (yet).

One other feature I am anxiously waiting for the vbulletin team to add is the ability to connect tot he forum using openID. This would possibly sit beside a Google and Facebook connect option.

I will keep you guys posted if any of the above features become available. For now, we'll just have to wait I'm afraid

+1! It's good to log in into the forum using Open ID.. Strongly agreed with this suggestion Nigel. I know it's a hard time for you Nigel. Just keep it slow and steady.. There's nothing to rush except for those spammers..

Well OpenID is good too, seeing as though I have an OpenID already (with Launchpad) and it would be fairly easy to implement. Does vBulletin accept plugins or something? And are end users allowed to create them? If so, why doesn't anybody on these forums create a plugin for OpenID content or Google account use?

Yes, OpenID would have been amazing. It is something that a lot of people are campaigning to have included in vbulletin. There is no 'good' OpenID plugin that I know of. For this forum, I would rather stick to the official vbulletin builds because we get support for them. If I am to get an external plugin, I would prefer getting a paid for plugin which will guarantee continued upgrades, support and compatibility with vbulletin.

For this we will just have to wait for future updates of vbulletin and they seem to roll out very good features with each new iteration.

Why not start a project on Launchpad or GitHub and ask members of this forum to develop a plugin for, say, Google accounts?

    Kenny,

I personally don't see urgency in implementing this because from my experience I have learnt that it is best for this community to stick as closely as possible to either official vbulletin functionality or to only run purchased plugins (that have a good reputation).

The only instance I would consider going for either a free solution or a custom made one is if the issue that is being addressed is either of major concern (needed immediately) or is very minor (in the way it affects the forum).

Something like a log in or sign up function is a major issue. Imagine if a new version of vbulletin came out, if we upgraded to it and found out that 40% of the forum can't log in anymore because the plug in is no longer compatible. Do we then rush back to the drawing board and spend 2 weeks trying to fix the issue?

This is the main reason why I am hesitant about this. Even so, if the functionality became available in vbulletin, I would be more than happy to enable it or even to purchase it as I recently did with the Android App functionality.

    Nigel
